Passage
through a Portal is a tableau of three
stainless steel sculptures, ranging from 2.2 to
3.9 metres in height, installed over an inclined
landscape at Shenton College, Perth. The work
depicts a sphere in an implied time sequence,
before and after rolling through a circular arc.
The sphere exists in two versions; one
smooth and reflective, the other a geodesic
tessellation of 180 triangular facets. The arc
has the geometry of a hexagonal Mobius loop -
composed of triangular facets arranged in bands
that are alternately mirror-reflective or
rainbow polychromatic.
