Coppelia One is
an interactive humanoid robot that responds to
audience movement by pirouetting and
transitioning through the basic ballet
positions of the arms. Coppelia One is
the first doll from The
Coppelia Project. The Coppelia
Project is inspired by the story about a
clockwork girl from the ballet "Coppelia" by
Delibes, based on an earlier work by Hoffmann.
The robot is based on Jayne Smeulders of the
West Australian Ballet. Coppelia One -
has the additional name "Lilas Juliana
Areias". Coppelia One was exhibited
at Curious Characters exhibition of automata
artworks at the Morris Museum, NJ, USA,
curated by Michele Marinelli.
